Fletcher Allen Health Care  Fletcher Allen Health Care, in alliance with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, is Vermont's only academic medical center and one of 126 in the country. Academic medical centers are medical schools and teaching hospitals that link research, medical education training and patient care. Serving a population of more than one million, Fletcher Allen includes more than 30 patient care sites and 120 outreach clinics in Vermont and northern New York. A private, publicly supported integrated health care system, our organization features a medical staff of 700 physicians and a nursing staff of over 1,200 registered nurses. Fletcher Allen was founded in 1995, through the merger of Fanny Allen Hospital, Medical Center Hospital of Vermont and University Health Center.
